December 2024 – Conductix-Wampfler, a global leader in energy and data transmission systems, is pleased to announce the successful completion of a major retrofit project involving two heavy duty festoon systems for Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. The project, awarded on a turnkey basis, was executed with precision, meeting the client’s stringent requirements for quality and minimal operational downtime.

The scope of the retrofit included:

  • Replacement of one motorized festoon system, along with the control panel.
  • Replacement of a non-motorized heavy duty festoon system on another STS crane.
  • Engineering and extension of the crane beam to accommodate the new system installation.
  • Pre-assembly of festoons at the quay, scaffolding installation, and comprehensive preparatory work on the STS cranes.
  • Cable laying and cabling of approximately 35 power and control cables per festoon system, each weighing 50 kg/meter.

Conductix-Wampfler’s team of highly skilled technicians, hailing from Turkey, Belgium, France, and Germany, completed the retrofits sequentially within just four weeks, including the commissioning phase. A critical focus was ensuring that crane downtime did not exceed four days per unit, thereby minimizing operational disruptions for the client.

“This project underscores Conductix-Wampfler’s commitment to delivering innovative and efficient retrofit solutions,” said Ludovic Phan, Global Service Director at Conductix-Wampfler. “Our ability to provide turnkey services, from system engineering to installation and commissioning, highlights our expertise and dedication to exceeding customer expectations.”

The successful completion of this project further solidifies Conductix-Wampfler’s position as a trusted partner in the global port and terminal industry. By leveraging advanced engineering solutions and a collaborative, multinational team, Conductix-Wampfler continues to lead the way in delivering reliable and efficient energy and data transmission systems.
